Recent Travels – Future Writings

Recent Travels, Future Writings

Our recent travels have made it somewhat impossible to sit down and write proper posts and musings about the adventures we’ve been on. I know I haven’t written on the blog for over 2 months and believe me, I feel plenty of guilt regarding this matter. But to get somewhat into writing on CityoftheWeek (which I’ve also missed terribly), I decided to show you a little sneak-peek of the places we visited in the past couple of weeks, so you’ll know what kind of posts to expect in the (hopefully) very near future.

7 DAYS OF CANOEING IN THE DANUBE DELTA (16-22nd of May)

In the middle of May we participated in a 7-day canoeing adventure with a group of 12 awesome people with the aim of exploring the flora and fauna of the spectacular Danube Delta, the best-preserved river delta in Europe. I don’t really want to spoil the whole report, but I just want to say that it’s definitely been one of the best travel experiences in my life so far. Stay tuned for all the details!

3 DAYS OF EXPLORING THE GHIMES REGION (26-29th of May)

The Ghimes can be found in the historic region of Transylvania and is composed of a couple of larger communes. It is known for being on the border between the Hungarian-speaking Szeklers and the Romanian-speaking population of the historic region Moldavia, thus resulting in an interesting mix of cultures. Besides the strong heritage, the stunning countryside is also worth a visit.

10 DAYS IN PORTUGAL (10-20th of June)

Portugal has been on my wishlist forever, so you can imagine my absolute excitement when I found tickets for merely 85 euros, round-trip, from Budapest. We visited the Portuguese capital, the amazing city of Sintra, and explored the Algarve region for a week, which was like heaven! Here’s a little preview, full blog posts to come!

ONE-DAY HIKE IN THE CALIMANI MOUNTAINS (9th of June)

We wanted an escapade to the mountains with some friends and ended up in the Calimani Mountains for three days together, of which one was spent on a bit of trekking. The scenery was amazing, the forest was deep, and although we didn’t catch too good of a weather, we still had a blast exploring the wilderness. And at least it wasn’t unbearably hot!

LONG WEEKEND AT COLIBITA LAKE (22-24th of June)

I wrote about Colibita Lake 2 years ago when we first visited and it seems that it really is the lake of summer escapades, since we decided to return once again! This time, we were 4 adults and a 1.5 year-old baby on his first camping trip! And let me tell you, he (and us) had a blast! The weather was excellent, the lake’s temperature was great and we had a nice and relaxing weekend. I also caught a glimpse of the golden hour at 6:30 which resulted in some pretty nice shots. Stay tuned!

That’s kind of what I’ve been up to in the past couple of weeks. And don’t worry, that’s not all for this summer, as I have a few more travels in store!

What are you up to this summer? Let me hear your plans!
