Before you visit Kranjska Gora, take a short detour to check out Zelenci Nature Reserve. This protected natural area is made up of swamps, springs and remarkable lakes, giving home to numerous rare plant and animal species. It is also the source of the grandiose Sava Dolinka River. The most photogenic attraction in the entire nature reserve is the charming Lake Zelenci, boasting emerald waters with the Triglav Mountains serving as its backdrop, best viewed from the bird-watching station situated above the lake. When you visit Kranjska Gora region, there’s no better place to stay a few days than in the city bearing the same name. Chill by the banks of Lake Jasna

By driving further up the mountains from Kranjska Gora, you’ll soon encounter two sparkling lakes by the side of the road. Lake Jasna is made up of two interconnected artificial lakes by the Pišnica River. Since you’re closer to the gorgeous Triglav Mountains than ever before, the area becomes even more dramatic. The scenery is gorgeous in itself and even more beautiful during the autumn months when the leaves of the forest start changing color. Drive through Vršič Pass

Conclude your trip by driving through the emblematic Vršič Mountain Pass, the highest of its kind in the Eastern Julian Alps with a maximum elevation of 1,611 meters. Drivers and motorcyclists alike will surely enjoy the serpentine road made up of 50 different hairpin turns, definitely elevating your adrenaline. We missed out on this one because it was snowing when we were there (the mountain pass is closed in dire weather conditions), and we’ve been regretting it ever since. So make sure you don’t miss out on this adventurous ride through the Triglav Mountains during your visit to Kranjska Gora!
